São milhares de opcões disponíveis, de milhares de marcas diferentes, mas como escolher a ideal pra mim?
É engraçado mas no final das contas o que vai diferenciá-las, além da marca e de ser ou não waterproof é o pincel!
Vou focar neles pra dar uma luz pra vcs…
A embalagem ajuda muito na diferenciação! O que eles dizem geralmente é: Volume alguma coisa, Alonga os cílios em x%, cílios maiores e mais volumosos, etc!
No fim das contas temos basicamente 4 tipos no geral :
1. A que aumenta o volume: o pincel é mais gordinho ou tem um formato que ajuda á acumular o máximo de produto possível. O objetivo desses tipos de pinceis é criar um efeito nos cílios de aumento de volume, engrossando e “emendando” eles ao máximo! Esse tipo de mascara sempre fica mais eficiente quando já está sendo usada há mais tempo pois o produto fica mais grosso e causa um efeito melhor quando aplicado.
Basicamente existem 2 tipos de pinceis de volume: com cerdas flexiveis e com cerdas “rígidas“. Quanto mais flexiveis as cerdas mais “bagunçado” e dramático é o resultado pois as cerdas rígidas tendem á deixar os cílios mais alinhados e dar um efeito mais “postiço”!
2. A que alonga: Esses pincéis definem o fio individualmente causando a impressão de estarem mais longos. Existem vários formatos desses tipos de pincéis e são quase sempre mais finos e com cedras rígidas ou flexíveis bem curtas.
3. A que alonga e curva: Esses além de definir os fios causam o efeito do curler, que curva as pontas dos cílios. São pincéis que contém curvatura em seus formatos.
4. A que faz de tudo um pouco! rs: Sério, existem! O efeito dessas mascaras é tão incrível que fica impossível enquadrá-las em alguma categoria específica! Aumenta, alonga, curva, tudo, tudinho!!
Fiz o teste com algumas delas pra vocês poderem visualizar melhor! Aproveite e escolha a que opção te agrada mais! Usei o mesmo tipo e modelo de cílios postiços para todos os testes.

A laranja da CoverGirl tem cerdas rígidas (veja como os cílios estão alinhados) e a da Maybelline tem cerdas flexíveis (efeito “bagunçado”).

Eu sou muito fã de base em stick, mas essa entrou para o time das minhas favoritas de cara: pela textura super cremosa mas nada oleosa, pela variedade de cores disponíveis (26!), por deixar minha pele com acabamento aveludado mas sequinha e por durar o dia todo intacta (ela é waterproof e de longa duração)!
Hourglass não é uma marca muito conhecida no Brasil e aqui nos EUA ainda não se fala tanto dela. Talvez por ser meio carinha (considerada uma luxury brand) ou por ser relativamente nova (criada em 2004). Mas, aos poucos, estou provando os produtos dela e ainda não me decepcionei com nenhum, pelo contrário! O meu primer predileto para pele ultra seca é o Hourglass No 28, que é absolutamente fantástico!
Mas voltando para a base, ela tem na sua composição duas vezes mais pigmentos do que uma base tradicional, o que chega muito próximo da composição de um corretivo, mas com a consistência mais parecida com a de uma base líquida, o que é maravilhoso não só na hora de aplicar, mas também no resultado mais leve e natural com cobertura total. Ela é realmente revolucionária.
Como aplicá-la: Com o próprio stick, fazer marcas no rosto de forma uniforme e espalhar o produto com um pincel de pedras sintéticas de sua escolha ou um blender, sempre fazendo movimentos de cima pra baixo como se estivesse “empurrando” delicadamente o produto na pele.
Dica de aplicação: Para facilitar ainda mais você pode umedecer o pincel/blender com o Óleo de Lótus da Clarins ou algo similar. O acabamento fica mais luminoso também.

I’m a huge fan of foundation sticks, and this one came straight away into my Top 5 list! The reasons:
It’s super creamy but not oily at all, making the application easy
It comes in 26 shades what makes the perfect match very much possible (mine is Linen), it leaves my skin with a velvet finishing appearance
It’s waterproof and long wearing (I can tell you that!)
The fact that Its formula has got the double amount of pigments as the traditional foundation -almost a concealer composition but with a liquid foundation texture- make the full coverage easy to reach with only one layer of the product as their promise!
How to apply: Using the stick make marks around the face uniformly and blend the product into the skin using a syntactic hair brush of your choice or a blender.
Tip for application: You can wet a little bit the brush/blender with the Clarins Lotus Oil (or something similar) to make the blending even easier and the finishing delivered more glowing.

Color wheel is an extremely useful and necessary tool for makeup artists. It is also used as a guidance for decor designers, photographers and in the fashion industry.
It establishes the best matches between colors and tones, and the worst as well. Even though it is a great tool, It does not mean it can be blind followed, at least not when it comes to makeup! Why? Simply because we are not only a pair of eyes! We have hair, skin and wear clothes and we have to consider us as a whole package!
For instant, when looking at the wheel, you know that the opposite colors are complementary and are valued when they are side by side, and cancel each other out when blended together (this is how it works) but imagine myself for example (with my green eyes which according to the wheel match perfectly with red variations, including shades of pink and rosé) wearing a dark pink eyeshadow (“cold” color), but dressing an orange outfit, or yellow (“warm” colors)… What will happen? A clash of colors and tones that do not look good together at all, according to the same color wheel!
Another easy mistake is to believe that a green eye does not go well with blue, for example, simply because the wheel does not connect them .We are a set of factors, which means that yes, the wheel can be quite confusing and can underestimate combinations that can go very well in individual and unique situations! But it cannot be ignored, though! Rather, it is the best guidance when composing a look and the safest way to ensure a good result. We can’t just forget to:
1. Harmonize the entire look (color clothes, lipstick, blush, etc.)
2- Not let it limit ourselves as artists! We can go beyond and take a risk, based on our creativity and common sense.
3- Remember that blending some colors (especially opposites in the color wheel) can result in a color mutation – ex.: the yellow is offset by purple, yellow with red turns into orange (pay attention to secondary and tertiary colors), etc.
My tip is: go always for the color wheel but do not allow it to be “the boss” over you!
This is my favorite one because it includes the black, which doesn’t show up in most wheels for being considered in fact “the absence of color”, not a color itself! But it is out there (especially in our wardrobes!) And we cannot ignore it, right? LOL.

The Lotus oil is recommended for oily/combination skins and the Blue Orchid Oil for the dry ones. I learned about them as a big helpers on applying thick cream foundations (as the Kevyn Aucoin) by mixing a few drops of one of them (the most appropriate) with the product before applying it on the face or by wetting the brush/blender with 1 or 2 drops of the oil before taking on cream products (as blush and highlighter) and applying. The results on both ways are amazing! It is incredible how the skin absolves the oil immediately and leaves no signs of it around. The skin shows a beautiful glow and look hydrated and healthy.
Besides being “makeup helpers” theses oils are also a great alternative for skin night hydration. I have incorporated the Blue Orchid oil to my “night routine” right before applying the anti-aging cream and after the toner. The best way to apply it for this purpose is by dropping a lit bit of it on one hand and warm it up with the other before patting the product all over the face.
I really recommend them…they are at least worthy to try! Even for oily skins.
Other good news is that they are 100% pure plant extracts, non-staining and preservative -free!
